Town of Thetford’s Treasure Island 1218 Route

Island is the Town of Thetford's recreational facility located
on Lake Fairlee just off Route 244, offering beachfront swimming,
picnicking, tennis and other outdoor activities. Starting in
May, Treasure Island hosts a Community Work Day, Swim Lesson
Sign-Up (for Thetford children), and Operation Day's Work (a
joint work project with multiple Thetford Academy students).
In early June, school groups from Thetford and surrounding towns
enjoy their end-of-the-school-year picnics at Treasure Island.
Opening day of the season is June 1, weather permitting, and
on this day children and parents from neighboring towns may
come to register for swim lessons. The American Red Cross Swim
Lesson program begins mid June and continues through-out the
summer in four two-week sessions. Lesson run daily in the morning
for half-hour periods between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. The American
Red Cross swim lesson curriculum serves the very beginner all
the way to the advanced swimmer. A new course offering is the
Level 6, modules of junior lifesaving, water safety and/ or
personal water fitness.
