Planning Commission
The Thetford Planning Commission currently consists of five members appointed by the Selectboard. The duties of the Planning Commission are set forth in Title 24, Section 4325 of the laws of the State of Vermont. These include preparing and amending the Town Plan, zoning bylaws and subdivision regulations, and undertaking studies and making recommendations on matters of land development.
Currently the Planning Commission is working on revisions to the Town Plan and to the subdivision regulations. It has recently completed, held a hearing, and passed on to the Selectboard, changes to the zoning regulations. A number of the changes in these documents have been mandated by state statute. The Selectboard held a public hearing in June, 2011.
The Planning Commission does not have an office or office hours. Written information may be directed to the Planning Commission by sending it to the Thetford Town Hall. The clerk’s office will refer it to the zoning office where the Planning Commission has a box.
The Planning Commission has regularly scheduled meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of the month, at 7:15p.m. in the meeting room of Town Hall. These meetings are open to the public.
For specific forms for development and construction see the Zoning section of the town website.
The chair of the Planning Commission is Kevin O’Hara.
