   The Town Clerk is responsible for recording and preserving land records and vital records for the town and helps the public access the many public records available here. We also maintain the minutes of the town meetings and committee meetings, maintain the voter checklist and absentee balloting and oversee local elections. Other services we provide at town hall include: processing animal licenses, Vermont Fish and Games Licenses & Land Posting, Civil Union and Marriage Licenses, Green Mountain Passports, Tobacco & Liquor Licenses, DMV Registration Renewals, sale of trash tickets & permits, sale of passes to Treasure Island and notarizing signatures. Please see fees below.

Services & Fees:

Animal Licensing
Dogs, Wolf Hybrids, and Ferrets, according with Title 20 s3581, over 6 months of age must be registered by April 1. A copy of current rabies vaccine and spay/neutering (if applicable) must be presented at time of licensing. New residents have 90 days to register animals before penalties apply.

DMV Registration Renewals
Actual renewal form from the DMV is required. Payment for registration must be in check or money order form, and a separate $3.00 payment to the Town of Thetford (cash or check).

Recycling Center Permits and Trash tickets
Thetford Recycling Center Permits are required to use the center. They are sold at town hall, $18 for a permit which expires 12/31. Currently trash tickets for the Thetford Recycling Center are purchased at Thetford Center Village Store during their open hours, or via mail through Northeast Waste. We do sell permits and trash coupons for the Hartford Recycling Center during regular town hall office hours. $18.00 per permit, $3.80 per coupon (per bag) of trash.
